여리고 성을 무너뜨린 순수한 말씀의 능력  
하나님의 역사는 인간의 계산법으로는 도저히 이해할 수 없는 방식으로 흘러가곤 합니다. 난공불락의 요새로 불리던 여리고 성이 칼과 창이 아닌, 양각 나팔 소리와 백성들의 함성만으로 무너진 사건이 바로 그렇습니다. 오늘은 여호수아 6장의 말씀을 통해, 우리 삶의 견고한 진을 무너뜨리고 약속의 땅으로 들어가는 영적인 비결을 깊이 있게 나누어보고자 합니다.

20 이에 백성은 외치고 제사장들은 나팔을 불매 백성이 나팔 소리를 듣는 동시에 크게 소리 질러 외치니 성벽이 무너져 내린지라 백성이 각기 앞으로 나아가 성에 들어가서 그 성을 취하고 21 성중에 있는 것을 다 멸하되 남녀 노유와 우양과 나귀를 칼날로 멸하니라

[소 제목 1] 여리고 성 

이스라엘 백성들이 요단강을 건너 가나안 땅에 입성했을 때, 그들 앞을 가로막은 첫 번째 관문은 수천 년 동안 쌓아 올린 견고한 여리고 성이었습니다. 인간의 지혜로는 절대로 무너뜨릴 수 없는 이 성벽을 마주했을 때, 하나님께서는 군사적인 전략 대신 ‘유월절’과 ‘할례’라는 영적 의식을 먼저 치르게 하셨습니다.

출애굽 1세대 60만 명이 광야에서 쓰러져 간 이유는 그들이 하나님의 법보다 애굽의 풍습과 자신의 생각을 앞세웠기 때문입니다. 하지만 가나안 땅에 들어갈 자격은 오직 ‘하나님의 법’만을 아는 자들에게 주어졌습니다. 여리고라는 거대한 장애물을 만나기 전, 이스라엘 백성들이 길갈에서 행한 할례는 옛사람의 껍데기를 벗겨내고 오직 하나님의 백성이라는 증표를 몸과 마음에 새기는 과정이었습니다. 우리의 삶에서도 고난이라는 여리고를 만나기 전, 가장 먼저 점검해야 할 것은 내가 진정으로 하나님께 속한 자인가 하는 영적 정체성입니다.

When the Israelites crossed the Jordan River and entered the land of Canaan, the first obstacle standing in their way was the formidable City of Jericho, fortified over thousands of years. Faced with walls that could never be brought down by human wisdom alone, God commanded them to perform the spiritual rituals of 'Passover' and 'Circumcision' instead of employing military strategies.

The reason the 600,000 men of the first generation of the Exodus perished in the wilderness was that they prioritized Egyptian customs and their own thoughts over God’s laws. However, the entitlement to enter Canaan was granted only to those who acknowledged and lived by 'God’s Law' alone. Before facing the massive barrier of Jericho, the circumcision performed at Gilgal was a process of shedding the outer shell of the 'old self' and engraving the mark of being God’s people upon both their bodies and hearts. Likewise, when we encounter a 'Jericho' of suffering in our lives, the very first thing we must examine is our spiritual identity—whether we truly belong to God.

예수님께서는 바리새인과 사두개인들의 ‘누룩’을 주의하라고 경고하셨습니다. 여기서 누룩이란 하나님의 순수한 말씀에 섞여서는 않되는 인간의 철학, 세상적인 지식, 그리고 변질된 교훈을 뜻합니다. 오늘날 많은 이들이 하나님의 말씀이라 부르며 세상의 지혜를 섞어 전하고 있지만, 영적인 여리고를 무너뜨리는 힘은 오직 ‘무교병’과 같은 순수한 진리에서만 나옵니다. 껍데기뿐인 지식이 아닌, 우리 내면의 속사람을 변화시키는 생명의 말씀만이 우리를 묶고 있는 견고한 진을 파쇄할 수 있습니다.

[소 제목 2] The Spiritual Timeline: From Manna to the Fruit of Canaan

Within this text lies a fascinating spiritual timeline. The day after they celebrated the Passover and ate the produce of the land of Canaan, the manna—which had been their sustenance in the wilderness—ceased. This signifies a shift in faith: no longer depending on 'visible miracles, ' but living by the 'completed Word,' the very fruit of Canaan.

Jesus warned His disciples to beware of the 'leaven' of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Here, leaven refers to human philosophy, worldly knowledge, and distorted teachings that must never be mixed with the pure Word of God. Today, many people preach what they call the Word of God while blending it with worldly wisdom. However, the power to bring down a spiritual 'Jericho' comes only from the pure truth, much like the unleavened bread. It is not hollow, shell-like knowledge, but the Word of Life that transforms our inner self, which can truly demolish the strongholds that bind us.

하나님께서는 제사장 일곱 명에게 양각 나팔을 잡고 언약궤 앞에서 행진하게 하셨습니다. 왜 하필 양의 뿔로 만든 나팔이었을까요? 이는 어린양 되신 예수 그리스도의 복음을 상징합니다. 엿새 동안 성 주위를 매일 한 바퀴씩 돌며 침묵하고, 마지막 일곱째 날에 일곱 번을 돌며 나팔 소리와 함께 함성을 지른 이 순종의 행위는 인간의 소리를 죽이고 하나님의 음성만을 가득 채우는 과정입니다.

여호수아 6장 10절에서 강조된 ‘함구령’은 매우 중요한 의미를 지닙니다. 순수한 하나님의 말씀에 인간의 불평이나 생각이 섞이지 않게 하려는 의도였습니다. 우리 마음속에도 작은 여리고 성들이 존재합니다. 고집, 교만, 그리고 세상적인 욕심이라는 성벽입니다. 진리의 일곱 나팔 소리가 우리 영혼에 울려 퍼질 때, 우리의 겉사람은 무너지고 비로소 하나님께서 거하시는 성전으로 변화될 수 있습니다. 일곱째 천사가 나팔을 불 때 하나님의 비밀이 이루어지듯, 우리 삶의 마지막 함성은 곧 구원의 완성으로 이어지는 축복의 통로가 됩니다.

God commanded seven priests to carry trumpets of rams' horns and march before the Ark of the Covenant. Why specifically trumpets made of rams' horns? They symbolize the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. For six days, they circled the city once each day in silence. On the seventh day, they circled it seven times, and with the blast of the trumpets, they raised a great shout. This act of obedience was a process of silencing human voices to fill the space solely with the Voice of God.

The 'order of silence' emphasized in Joshua 6:10 carries profound significance. It was intended to prevent human complaints or thoughts from mixing with the pure Word of God. Within our own hearts, there are also 'miniature Jerichos'—walls of stubbornness, pride, and worldly desires. When the seven trumpets of truth resound in our souls, our outer selves crumble, allowing us to finally be transformed into a temple where God dwells. Just as the mystery of God is accomplished when the seventh angel sounds his trumpet, the final shout of our lives becomes a conduit of blessing leading to the completion of salvation.

성경에 기록된 여리고 성의 함락은 단순히 과거의 역사적 사건에 머물지 않습니다. 그것은 오늘을 살아가는 우리 심령 속에서 매일 일어나야 할 영적인 승전보입니다. 애굽의 습관을 버리지 못한 채 광야에서 머무는 신앙이 아니라, 할례를 통해 마음을 새롭게 하고 순수한 말씀의 나팔 소리에 반응하는 ‘알맹이’ 신앙인이 되어야 합니다.

이 글을 읽는 모든 심령 위에 진리의 성령님께서 임재하시기를 소망합니다. 세상의 누룩이 섞이지 않은 순수한 말씀으로 무장하여, 여러분 앞을 가로막고 있는 모든 악의 세력의 압제에서 승리하시길 바라며 우주를 누르고 있는 ( 적 그리스도, 전쟁, 테러, 기후변화, 빈부격차, 마약, AI의 양면성, 성 착취, 보이스 피싱, 인터넷 도박)등 헤아릴 수 없는 여리고성 이 파괴되기를 기원하는 전 세계인들에게 생명의 말씀이 전파되기를 예수그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다.아멘

Armed with the pure Word, untainted by the leaven of the world, may you triumph over the oppression of all evil forces standing in your way. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the Word of Life will be proclaimed to people all over the world, praying for the destruction of the countless 'Jericho walls' weighing down our universe—the Antichrist, war, terrorism, climate change, the gap between rich and poor, drug abuse, the double-edged sword of AI, sexual exploitation, voice phishing, and online gambling.
